If you’ve been following me on here for a while you’ll have spotted that my focus for my Substack newsletter changed a little while ago. It became more about me. Because I was fed up with feeling like I couldn’t write about me and all the business things going round in my head, and I needed a place to do that. I’d fallen out of love with the blog on my website, because I didn’t think anyone actually read it anymore. So enter Substack.
Enjoying writing
I’ve only published a few things since then, but it’s been good for me to do that. It’s got me back into writing and enjoying writing for its own sake. That’s what I’d been missing with the blog - feeling like it needed to mean something to others, to share lessons and be wise and useful to get clients.
Making decisions
And in getting back into writing, it prompted me to write a couple of blog posts for my website that I’d been meaning to write for ages. One about my experiments with making videos last year, and the other about my Creative Conversations, the audio version of which are here on Substack.
And that writing helped me close off a chapter, and make a decision not to start a podcast right now. Something I’d been toying with and researching, but clinging onto because it was something I wanted to do, yet knew it wasn’t really the best way for me personally to go right now.
What’s next?
I’m going to keep writing on Substack, and write more for my website too. I enjoy writing, it’s my natural medium - video and audio are lovely, and now I’m not scared of them I’m happy to participate and to create the occasional bit of content that way. But writing has always been my thing, my way of processing my thoughts, of being creative. So it’s nice to have reconnected with that again.
